JacQuan D. Winters

JacQuan D. Winters is a passionate suicide prevention advocate, youth empowerment coach, children's author and speaker. Following the suicide of his 11-year-old sister Kristen, Winters sought a way to keep her memory alive and founded the Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation, Inc. Though the death of his sister Kristen was extremely painful, Winters was able to find purpose in his pain and realized his passion to serve the younger generation. JacQuan remembers the struggles he endured as a child and desires to uplift youth by using his testimony as empowerment.

Winters earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice from the University of West Alabama. JacQuan also earned his Master of Education from the University of West Alabama. He is trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid, SafeTALK, and is a certified QPR (Question Persuade Refer) Gatekeeper Instructor, which equips him to teach lay and professional "gatekeepers" the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond. Today, Winters is blessed to serve as the Executive Director of the Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation. Winters recently published two children’s books, "Kristen's Rainy Day” and “My Happy Place” both written to continue the legacy of his younger sister, Kristen. He resides in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Jasmine B. Knox

Jasmine B. Knox received her Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice from the University of West Alabama. While at the University of West Alabama, she served in several capacities and worked closely with the administration of the university. Jasmine graduated from The University of Alabama in 2019 where she earned her Master of Public Administration. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, planning events, and helping others. Jasmine B. Knox resides in Moundville, AL.

Chanterryka D. Calhoun

Chanterryka D. Calhoun earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Stillman College. She is currently pursuing a Master of Education in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama. Chanterryka has the opportunity to serve as the Lead Kindergarten Teacher at Central Elementary School in Tuscaloosa, AL. In her spare time, she loves working with youth, organizing, watching movies, assisting others.
